At the Centre for Strategic Business Excellence (CSBE), an initiative by the MIT School of Distance Education (MITSDE) under the MIT Group of Institutions, Pune, we redefine the way organizations learn, lead, and grow. Who Are We

CSBE was founded with a simple yet powerful vision — to bridge the gap between knowledge and execution, and to help organizations transform not just their people, but their purpose. Conceived under the umbrella of the MIT School of Distance Education (MITSDE), a legacy institution with over 2 decades of educational leadership, CSBE was created as a strategic arm focused on applied corporate learning and organizational excellence.

Case study 1. Smart Mark | Strategic Business Mastery for Emerging Leaders

Client Overview

Smart Mark is a fast-growing manufacturing company focused on operational excellence. With a strong pool of mid-level managers, the organization aimed to build strategic leadership capabilities to support its next phase of growth.

Challenge

While technically competent, many managers operated with a short-term, task-oriented mindset. The company recognized the need to strengthen strategic thinking, people leadership, and change management to enable these managers to take on broader business responsibilities.

CSBE designed a customized one-day leadership development intervention titled Strategic Business Mastery for Emerging Leaders.

Delivered in-person at the MITAOE Campus, the session integrated:

Case study 2. Technodry System Engineering Pvt. Ltd. | Effective Workplace Communication Workshop

Client Overview

Technodry System Engineering Pvt. Ltd. is an ISO-certified engineering solutions provider specializing in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation projects. The company employs a diverse technical workforce across design, planning, production, and support functions.

Challenge

The organization identified that while written communication practices were disciplined and well-structured, interpersonal and verbal communication among cross-functional teams needed improvement.

Internal reviews revealed communication gaps between engineers, drafters, and managerial staff, leading to minor inefficiencies in coordination and collaboration.

CSBE designed a customized one-day onsite workshop on Effective Workplace Communication, focusing on practical techniques for technical teams.

Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Ltd. (RCFL) is a leading public sector enterprise under the Government of India, engaged in manufacturing and marketing fertilizers and industrial chemicals. With a focus on nurturing managerial talent, the company collaborated with CSBE to conduct a leadership development program for recently promoted employees.

The One-Day Management Development Program (MDP) on Leadership was designed for 25–30 newly promoted professionals from diverse functional backgrounds. Case study 5. Key Technologies, Pune | Financial Literacy and Investment Planning MDP

Key Technologies, a Pune-based manufacturing firm, sought to enhance financial awareness among employees from non-finance backgrounds. The leadership recognized that many professionals faced challenges in interpreting financial data and making informed investment or business decisions.

Challenge

While technically skilled, employees lacked financial literacy essential for evaluating company performance, understanding costs, and planning personal and professional investments. This knowledge gap limited strategic decision-making at both individual and departmental levels.

CSBE designed a specialized Management Development Program (MDP) titled Finance for Non-Finance Professionals, conducted onsite for 12 participants across departments.

Case study 6. Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), Visakhapatnam | Collaborative Leadership & Communication Excellence MDP

Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), a premier Government of India enterprise under the Ministry of Defence, is engaged in shipbuilding, ship repairs, and submarine refits. The organization emphasizes leadership excellence and continuous managerial capability development to ensure operational efficiency and strategic alignment.

Challenge

HSL identified communication gaps, reactive conflict management, and inconsistent accountability among mid-level officers.

These behavioural challenges were affecting coordination across departments, decision-making under pressure, and team ownership. The leadership sought an intervention that could foster collaborative leadership, effective communication, and conflict resolution skills tailored to the PSU environment.

CSBE designed and delivered a one-day experiential Managerial Development Program (MDP) on “Collaborative Leadership: Mastering Communication, Conflict Resolution, and Accountability.”
